You know the feeling.

Determinedly, you buy the most FABulous running shoes to help you finally run that half marathon — only to discover (again) just how much you despise running because it’s so boooooring. So, you quit.
Enthusiastically, you sign up for a healthy meal delivery service — only to be disappointed that the food tastes like chalk and cardboard. Ew, gross.
Hopefully, you tip-toe onto the scale as lightly as possible in nothing but a ponytail holder and hold on to the walls (because that helps, right?) — only to see a number that has you rushing to the store for ice cream. Sigh.
You feel disappointed. You couldn’t stick with it, not even past the first week.
You feel guilty. You wasted more money.
You feel sad. Why can everyone else do what you can’t?
Hold up. It’s not you.
You are not the problem.
Let me say that again — You are NOT the problem.
The problem is the system. It’s broken.
Our quick-fix society promotes unhealthy solutions that create guilt and deprivation.
You aren’t the only one to ever feel disappointed, guilty, and sad while trying to do the right thing — while trying to eat healthier, exercise, and lose weight.
Quick fixes come at a higher price: They wreak havoc on your self-esteem.
You start to only see what you can’t eat, instead of learning about the amazing nutrients food offers your body and mind. You worry about the scale.
You feel hopeless, discouraged and alone to face what you think is another failure (yet again), instead of questioning why you really think a change of this magnitude should happen overnight.
You are too concerned with the wrong things – calories, the scale, the fat contents of your food, the number of minutes on the elliptical – instead of how you feel, how you sleep, how your clothes fit, how much energy you have.
Counting calories and restrictive diets will only leave you starving.
Zombie-like binge-eating sprees will make you hate your own reflection.
Relentless gym workouts won’t yield any results if your eating habits don’t change.
I know you want to see results,
But it’s not about what you want.
It’s about what you do.
And it’s about what you believe. If you think you’ll fail again, you will. But I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that way.
This less-than, subtract-away, forced-willpower approach is hell. You’ll get nothing but a one-way ticket to misery. Isn’t it time for a better way? YES.
